Focus & Scope
Focus
FIKROTUNA: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Manajemen Islam is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing scholarship on Islamic education as an intellectual, pedagogical, and institutional field. The journal examines how Islamic educational traditions, epistemologies, ethical frameworks, and institutional practices shape educational processes, learner development, governance, leadership, policy, and institutional transformation.
FIKROTUNA welcomes scholarship that places Islamic educational thought in substantive dialogue with contemporary educational, psychological, organizational, technological, and policy perspectives. The journal has an international and comparative orientation and welcomes research from diverse educational and geographical contexts.
Scope
FIKROTUNA publishes original empirical, theoretical, conceptual, and systematic review research across four interconnected areas:
1. Islamic Educational Thought, Philosophy, and Epistemology
Islamic educational theories, philosophy, epistemology, tarbiyah, taʿlīm, tazkiyah, adab, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, educational thinkers, and educational reform.
2. Islamic Pedagogy, Curriculum, and Learning
Teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment, teacher development, Islamic pedagogy, Qur'anic and religious literacy, character education, inclusive education, digital learning, artificial intelligence, and emerging educational technologies.
3. Learner Development, Educational Psychology, and Wellbeing
Learner development, motivation, self-regulation, identity, character, resilience, wellbeing, counselling, and psychological and educational interventions grounded in or substantively engaging Islamic perspectives.
4. Governance, Leadership, Policy, and Institutional Transformation
Governance, leadership, strategic management, organizational culture, human resource development, quality assurance, accountability, educational policy, child protection, digital transformation, institutional reform, and sustainability in Islamic educational institutions.
FIKROTUNA particularly encourages comparative, cross-national, interdisciplinary, and theoretically informed research. Studies conducted in specific countries or institutions are welcome when they contribute to broader scholarly discussions on Islamic education.
Manuscripts should demonstrate clear theoretical or conceptual grounding, methodological rigor, and substantive engagement with Islamic intellectual traditions. Studies in which Islam is merely a geographical, demographic, or institutional context without meaningful analytical relevance to the research question are outside the journal's primary scope.
